Zite Announces Expansion of Publisher Program with 9 New Publisher Sections

Just three months after the launch of our publisher program, Zite is excited to announce our second wave of publisher partners.  Users will now be able to add sections from: Chicago Tribune, Cult of Mac, Entrepreneur, Harper’s Bazaar (Hearst), International Business Times, Los Angeles Times and IDG’s Macworld, PC World and TechHive.

For users, these sections represent a new way to read content from publishers: instead of an editor choosing which stories are most important, the Zite algorithm is applied to publisher content and users see the best stories from that publisher for them.

Publishers enjoy all the benefits of Zite’s discovery engine, which means that users are introduced to a publisher’s content through Zite and, after reading an article, are given the opportunity to upsell to a publisher’s application or subscription.  These ads have a click-through well above the industry average, up to 3%.  Furthermore, publishers who have signed a deal with Zite have enjoyed up to a 2x increase in article views within Zite.

Zite sees this wave of publishers as significant for a few reasons:

  • Print publishers have decided to participate – it’s no secret that print subscriptions are falling and newspapers are reducing operations.  However, Hearst (with Harper’s Bazaar) and Tribune (with Chicago Tribune and the LA Times) have signed on with Zite because they are excited about the opportunity to find a new set of users and to benefit from Zite’s insights, derived from our powerful algorithms.
  • It shows strong momentum for a program that we just launched three months ago. We’ve already added 18 publisher sections, with more to come in the coming months.

For now, the Zite Publisher Program remains invitation only and we’ll be concentrating on large, premium publishers.  If you think you qualify and we haven’t yet spoken, we encourage you to e-mail us at publishers@zite.com

If you’re a smaller publisher, however, don’t worry!  We’re also thinking hard about how we can best work with you also.
